Regardless of your goals are as a new self employed business person, one of your first aims will be to ascertain an office area. But why exactly is this? What makes self employed persons to want an office area, when it is just another costly expense?

Well the focal reason for any business is because it appears professional to have an office area, as an address or as a meeting area. Irrespective of the size of your establishment, if you have to tell a client that your corporation address is the same as your residential address then it looks unprofessional and, therefore, may drive potential customers away from your corporation.

Offices are also handy to have because they usually are located in the middle of a city which is immediately helpful for corporations, because if you need any new tools you should be able to get it in five minutes, rather then one hour if you are working from home.

Of course office spaces are an extra expense, but if you search in the right areas then you can get a teriffic price. Remember companies that offer out their office areas are in non-stop competiton with one another; this allows the buyer to get a better price. From serviced offices in Livingston, to a sole office room in Cornwall, you will be able to get teriffic prices everywhere.

An office area will also have amenities that you require to make your company appear professional. From the basics such as a photocopier, laminator, or fax machine, to the bigger items such as a separate office room, video conferencing, and even the capacity to use the office desk worker as your worker (for an optional cost). All of these points add a sense of professionalism to your company, and could be the difference between a customer and a potential customer.

If your corporation has matured to the point when you require further workers, then the odds of that employee wanting to work from your home address is slim to none.  Firstly it does not look professional to a prospective employee, and secondly it may set off some alarms, like if this establishment cannot afford an office space then an extra staff member will be the initial expense to eliminate, if things start going wrong.

Taking into account all the reasons above you may be able to see why, despite the price, it will be more than likely an advantage to have an office area. However, before making this choice, you need to work out if you have enough money for the overheads, and if it will be beneficial to your establishment to have an office.
